YSL Psychedelic Chili (416) Rouge Pur Couture The slim, matt lipstick ($ 39.00 for 0.08 oz.) Is a deep copper red with subtle, warm undertones and a semi-matte finish. It had an almost opaque paint release in a single layer that could easily be built up to full coverage with less than a second layer. The consistency was smooth, velvety and moderately dense with a very light feel that did not slip when worn. It wore well for six and a half hours and didn’t feel drying out.

Formula overview

The formula is said to be “weightless” and “non-drying”, which “lasts all day” with a “highly pigmented, matt color”. The texture has a smooth, velvety consistency – it was easy to apply but didn’t feel wet or traditionally creamy, more like a silicone-based primer. Most of the shades were applied evenly, didn’t separate along the contours of my lips, and were light and comfortable to wear.
The pigmentation was mostly opaque to opaque, and the color range appeared to pull more middle and deeper tones with a significant number of reds. As a result, numerous shades lasted six hours or more, with red-based shades leaving very strong stains (my lips were often pink to fuchsia for the next day as well!). Some shades seemed to go on and on because of the color itself and the underlying coloring power! The formula didn’t dry out as promised.
The diamond shaped bullet may take a time or two to get the hang of it, but I didn’t find it difficult to use at all. The triangular tip has proven itself particularly well to obtain a sharper cupid’s bow shape if desired. The formula had a floral scent that was barely noticeable when applied and no noticeable taste.

YSL 1966 Rouge Libre Rouge Pur Couture The slim, matt lipstick ($ 39.00 for 0.08 oz.) Is a lighter, medium-dark orange-red with warm undertones and a satin finish. It had a semi-opaque, buildable pigmentation, paired with a moderately dense, velvety texture that slid comfortably but felt thinner (but not clingy) and very light. The product lasted a good five and a half hours and felt neither drying nor hydrating over time.
