New Delhi: YouTube, owned by Google, has announced it will make “Decline” buttons available. “You can be assured that videos will remain private across the platform negative connotation “People don’t like a video created by a creator if they don’t like it. If desired, creators can track their dislikes and other metrics about their video’s performance in YouTube Studio.

This change is the result of a test conducted by Google’s proprietary platform earlier this year to see if such adjustments would reduce hate attacks and creator harassment on the network. YouTube had previously discussed how counting public dislikes can affect YouTubers’ wellbeing, and how targeted campaigns to add dislikes to videos can fuel targeted marketing.

While this is true, dislikes can also alert others to videos that are clickbait, spam, or misleading. According to a report in TechCrunch, YouTube ran the tests over several months and analyzed how the changes affected both users and artists.

According to the report, the company tested various designs for clearing the hate numbers, including one that displayed the term “dislike” under the thumb-down button instead of the number of dislikes. However, this is the style the company chose (with the number of dislikes hidden), which is a less distracting match with the row of interaction buttons under a video.
