However, you only have a few days to file your claim as tax day 2021 falls on May 17th.
Americans wishing to do this must complete a Recovery Rebate Credit form and the stimulus money will be added to any rebate due.
The Recovery Rebate Credit section on the Internal Revenue Service website provides complete, step-by-step instructions on how to file the tax credit.
Individuals must file a 2020 tax return to receive the refund credit, even if you are not required to file it.
The “reclaim discount” allows people who have not received their stimulus checks to claim their payments on their 2020 tax returns.

The IRS website states, “You must file a 2020 tax return to get a refund, even if you don’t otherwise have to file a tax return.”
If the total of missed payments (either one or both checks) is less than the amount of the refund discount credit, taxpayers can get the difference back on their 2020 tax return.
This can take the form of a larger tax refund or a lower tax burden.
Even if Americans have received both payments, they should check to see if they are eligible to claim a refund tax.
More than 960,000 checks worth up to $ 1,400 were sent when the IRS released their latest payments.
The bumper package also includes 400,000 “Plus Payments” and approximately 500,000 people receive checks after filing their tax returns for the first time.
