Xiaomi develops the air charging technology for powering multiple devices.

Xiaomi introduced a brand new form of charging called Mi Air Charge Technology on Friday, which can be used to charge devices “within a range of several meters”. Currently, Xiaomi’s remote charging technology can download 5 watts for a single device.

Apart from that, multiple devices can be charged at the same time (each device supports 5 watts), and even physical obstacles do not affect charging efficiency.

“Mi Air Charge technology allows users to charge electronic devices remotely without wires or wireless charging stations. Today we are entering a real era of wireless charging,” Xiaomi said in a statement.

In the near future, all devices in the living room will be based on a wireless power supply design that is completely wireless and makes our living rooms truly wireless.

The core technology of remote loading from Xiaomi lies in spatial positioning and energy transfer. This is how the remote loading technology works. Five phase interference antennas are built into Xiaomi’s self-developed, insulated charging stack, with which the location of the smartphone can be precisely determined.

A phase control array consisting of 144 antennas transmits millimeter-wide waves directly to the telephone using “beamforming”.

On the smartphone side, Xiaomi has also developed a miniaturized antenna array with an integrated “beacon antenna” and “receiving antenna array”. The beacon antenna sends position information with low power consumption.

“The receiving antenna array, which consists of 14 antennas, converts the millimeter wave signal emitted by the charging stack into electrical energy via the rectifier circuit in order to make the sci-fi charging experience a reality,” the company announced.

In the near future, the charging technology developed by Xiaomi for room isolation will also be able to work with smart watches, wristbands and other wearable devices.
