Sonya Deville tweeted, “I’m not the only one who says this news hurts my heart, but we can expect a tough return in 9 months. We’ll wait.”
Mia Yim added: “[Bayley] is one of the toughest I know. Fast recovery and all the best to you. Thank you for always being you. “
Tyson Kidd wrote, “This is so heartbreaking. [Bayley] is so popular with everyone and will be missed a lot – both in the ring and backstage.
“With that in mind, your comeback and return await and I can only imagine how amazing you will be when that happens!”
WWE has since confirmed that a replacement for Bayley will be announced on SmackDown Friday night.
The former Hugger was embroiled in a month-long feud with Belair after the WWE EST won the WrestleMania title in April.
After adopting her current heel personality before the pandemic began, Bayley has become one of the top stars of the empty arena era.
In May, she told Sports Illustrated, “I’m very proud of the past year. I believed I could do it and I knew I had so much more to give.
“I brought Bayley around the world and did all I could by giving my heart to the fans, but it was time for a change.
“I have a lot of freedom and I’m really grateful to WWE, the writers, and Vince [McMahon] gave me the platform to let myself be. “
