Some may be hoping for an expansion of the city’s charter schools. The other billionaires funding Super PACs at this elementary school include four investors who support charter schools, a favored cause of financiers who are skeptical of district public schools: Stanley Printmiller and Paul Tudor Jones, who donate $ 500,000 and $ 500,000 respectively. Donated $ 600,000 to the Adams Super PAC; Kenneth Griffin, another hedge fund manager who donated $ 750,000 to both super PACs Adams and Yang; and the Pennsylvania investor Jeffrey Yass, who donated $ 500,000 to Mr. Yang’s Super-PAC.

Coincidentally, the President of Mr. Adams’ Super PAC is Jenny Sedlis, who is on leave from a charter school advocacy group, Students First NY, and who co-founded the Success Academy, who has received direct financial support from Mr. Griffin.

Scott M. Stringer, the New York City Auditor, criticized some of the charter school practices that earned him the support of the United Federation of Teachers. NY4Kids, a teacher union-backed super PAC that supports Mr. Stringer, reported having raised nearly $ 6 million, with approximately $ 4.2 million raised and spent on the mayor’s race, a spokesman said.

Mr Stringer’s campaign has fought over allegations that he made unwanted sexual advances decades ago, which he has denied. Cassie Prugh, the organization’s treasurer, said the group focused on using its budget to make relatively early investments for Mr. Stringer.

Various companies controlled by the Dolan family, owned by Madison Square Garden, have poured around $ 6 million into another super PAC, the Coalition to Restore New York, which highlights the same quality of life issues that for the campaigns of Mr. Yang, Mr. Adams and Kathryn Garcia, a former hygiene officer. The Super-PAC asked candidates for mayoral as well as candidates for other city offices how they would fight crime, revitalize tourism and stop the “exodus” of New Yorkers from the city.
