New Delhi: WhatsApp could become even more problematic for certain users as the platform is rumored to be working on a new type of notification. So what’s the strategy? You will receive a notification when someone replies to any of your messages. Fortunately, you have the option to turn it off.
WhatsApp’s much-anticipated message response feature appears to be gaining traction as the instant messaging service is now rumored to be working on a “response notification” feature. The new WhatsApp beta update for Android v2.21.24.8 was discovered by WABetaInfo, which states that the notification feature originally appeared in the iOS beta.
According to a graphic provided by the platform, users can manage “reply notifications,” which means they can choose whether or not to want notifications when someone “responds to their message”. The expected “message response” feature of Meta (formerly Facebook) owned by WhatsApp would effectively enable users to respond to messages already available on their sibling platforms like Instagram and Facebook with emoticons like hearts or thumbs up.
The “Reply Notification” management option will most likely be in the main Settings menu, but it is unclear whether users will get the same tool for individual chats or groups. While the change may not seem important, it is always beneficial to have more alternatives to limit screen time. In the same publication, it was previously reported that WhatsApp users can reply to messages with any emoji.
Similarly, messages can contain an “unlimited number of responses”, but if there are more than 999 then “999+” will be displayed. The magazine also mentioned that the process of sending a response could potentially be end-to-end encrypted, making it impossible for an outsider to read chat responses. The availability details of message responses and response notifications are still unknown and the company has yet to publicly announce the development.
In the meantime, WhatsApp is said to be working on a number of new features, including HD features that will allow users to send and receive pictures and videos without having to compress the quality. Soon the platform may offer a pause and resume function for the voice recording. According to reports, WhatsApp is working on another feature that will allow users to hide their last seen people from certain people. It is possible that it includes a comparable option for viewing profile photos.
