Charlotte Tilbury is one of the brands I’d love to have, but I just can’t.
Every product I’ve tried from the brand doesn’t work for me. I mean … the pressed powder was OK, but there are so many good drugstore options out there that I can’t imagine how a high-end brand can’t make a decent one. The pencils are the worst I’ve ever tried. The eyeshadow palettes don’t have color schemes to my liking and most of the shades are those warm hues that look unflattering to me.
The packaging is awful. Cheap looking poor quality plastic and that rose gold tone make it look even cheaper because it tries too hard to look luxurious. I mean … it looks kind of good in pictures, but not in real life.
I like the choice of products, they have a little bit of everything without overdoing it. I like the idea of offering these palettes for a complete look, but I would like brands to make them with customizable inserts (buy the eyeshadows and face powders that suit you). Maybe the brand is exaggerating with pillow talk, but it’s not as bad as Nar’s orgasm.
The skin care items are also awful, too much fragrance.
The thing is, I absolutely see the brand as having a role and a place in the market, even if I don’t like it. It’s just that the brand and Charlotte Tilbury (she seems like that creepy aunt to me who wears a lot of makeup, smokes and drinks, and asks you if you already have a boyfriend when you are 12) aren’t my style .
If I were really impartial, I would really only be complaining about the packaging … for that price, it could use better quality and more stable materials.
