ANTHONY JOSHUA vs Tyson Fury is the fight EVERY boxing fan wants to see – so when will these two British superstars make it in the ring?
Both have achieved great victories, and 2021 should be the year they finally meet in the square.
Joshua vs Fury – when will it happen?
According to several players close to the deal – this summer.
In the summer of 2020, news had spread that the couple had verbally agreed on a duel contract for 2021, provided the couple could survive their next challenges unscathed.
Joshua stopped his end of the deal by taking out Kubrat Pulev while Fury looks like he managed to escape a trilogy fight with Deontay Wilder.

Eddie Hearn, Joshua’s sponsor, has repeatedly touted “late May, early June 2021” as a tough date for the mega-fight.
And earlier today, Hearn confirmed that both sides had signed an agreement to fight twice this year.
He told ESPN, “We want a site deal to be confirmed next month.
“The hard part is always getting everyone to get pen on paper. But it has been a huge effort by all parties to get this across the line. They had rival promoters, rival networks, and rival fighters.
“I just have the feeling that this battle is so great that it is not a difficult sale. We already had approaches from eight or nine locations. The offers come from several countries in the Middle East, Asia, Eastern Europe and America.
“This is the greatest fight in boxing and one of the greatest sporting events in the world,” said Hearn.

Joshua vs Fury – where will it take place?
Sorry British boxing fans – but Wembley Stadium in London seems to have gone completely out of hand, at least for the first fight.
Ideally, all of the parties involved in Joshua vs Fury want as many fans as possible to be present to benefit from what is likely a huge and historic goal.
The coronavirus pandemic has kept fans away from UK boxing arenas since March 2020, aside from the 1,000 Joshua saw against Pulev on December 12th.
The UK is still in a lockdown period. The situation is to be reviewed in mid-February. Therefore, it is unlikely that 90,000 fans will be allowed into the venues in early summer.
As for venues abroad … Saudi Arabia, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, Singapore, Australia, and the US all seem viable options.
It is now just a matter of which country will raise the most money to direct the struggle. Saudi already has a good relationship with Hearn, Joshua and Matchroom after hosting AJ’s rematch with Andy Ruiz Jr. in 2019.
Fury has also competed in Saudi Arabia, but more in a WWE ring than a boxing ring.
Joshua vs Fury – How Much Will They Make?
A lot of. That’s the simple answer. Both Joshua and Fury have already made over £ 40 million each for their respective bouts with Ruiz Jr and Wilder.
So when they fight each other, expect the numbers to finally double that.
Hearn also spoke last week about how he expects the couple to make “Mayweather money,” referring to the large purses Floyd had used in his fights.

“It is certainly the biggest fight, the most lucrative fight in boxing – hands down,” said Hearn.
“This is Mayweather money. You know? And we haven’t seen any Mayweather money since Mayweather.
“I think it’s impossible to give a number. There are no fixed wallets for this fight because it’s obviously revenue sharing. But it will certainly break records everywhere.”
However, it has been speculated that the couple could make £ 80m each.
Joshua vs Fury – which hurdles still have to be overcome?
There have been a few in the last few months of 2020, but we seem to be in a much stronger position now.
First Joshua had to beat Pulev, which he emphatically did with a knockout in the 9th round.
Fury had set his sights on a third fight with Wilder, but when that didn’t work out, an intermediate fight with Agit Kabayel was planned – but that also failed.
It seems that Fury decided that his best bet is to wait until he can fight AJ.

One problem he has, however, is Wilder, who believes the clause he exercised in order to compete in a third fight was breached.
According to Team Fury, the clause expired back in October while Wilder’s side took the legal route to achieve this trilogy rematch.
Neither Hearn nor Fury’s American promoter Bob Arum expect Wilder to win this case in any way, and they expect Joshua to stand up against Fury.

There is also the mandatory situation of the WBO, and while this isn’t one that prohibits combat, one could affect the situation as to which belts are on the line.
Oleksandr Usyk is the WBO’s mandatory challenger, but earlier this week one from the boxing scene announced that a hurdle had been cleared in that regard and that Joshua Fury’s WBO title would be at stake.
Expect Usyk to get paid well in the meantime.
Joshua vs Fury – which channel will it be on in the UK?
This could be difficult.
Joshua has an exclusive contract with Sky Sports in the UK, and while Fury’s contract with BT Sport is not exclusive, it is closely linked to them.
However, Fury has fought at the Sky Sports Box Office before, specifically to win his heavyweight title against Wladimir Klitschko in 2015.

Don’t be surprised if the two sides reach an agreement where both Sky and BT decide to work together on a double broadcast.
The situation is also difficult in the USA.
Fury has an exclusive contract with ESPN while Joshua’s last four fights were shown on the DAZN streaming service in the US
ESPN offers a pay-per-view service for their big fight nights, while DAZN is working on a subscription-based model, which makes it difficult to show the fight on both channels.
