San Francisco: Microblogging site Twitter is testing new prompts on iOS and Android that warn users before engaging in a conversation that could get hot.
In one example, a prompt is inserted right into an ongoing conversation saying “Conversations like this one can be intense,” reports The Verge.
Another, which looks like users are trying to respond to one of those intense conversations, reads “Let’s take care of each other” and has three bullet points to encourage empathetic and fact-based conversations, she added.
“Always want to know what a conversation is like before you join in? We’re testing prompts on Android and iOS that give you an early warning whether the conversation you’re about to enter might get hot or intense,” the microblogging site wrote on his support page.
“This is work in progress as we learn how to better support healthy conversations,” she added.
The calls are the company’s latest attempt to reduce the ongoing harassment and abuse on the platform.
For example, another prompt warns users before they tweet something that might be offensive.
Twitter could also display a prompt when users attempt to retweet an article they believe they haven’t read, which could help reduce the spread of misinformation, the report said.
“While they can help prevent some bad tweets from getting shared, the growing list of potential warnings to wade through before tweeting is a worrying indicator of the overall experience,” she added.
