New Delhi: Shortly after Facebook’s Mark Zuckerberg announced the company’s key renaming decision to change its name to Meta, Twitter sent out a message ridiculing the social media giants.
“The only #META we recognize is this …” Twitter Safety tweeted, accompanied by a link to a story about the company’s META team, which tasked it with developing an “ethical AI”.
The group includes some of the best known tech reviewers.
Rumman Chowdhury heads Twitter’s META team, which stands for Machine Learning, Ethics, Transparency, and Accountability.
Although it doesn’t link to Facebook or Meta, a separate tweet from Twitter after Zuckerberg’s reveal is also becoming popular on the network.
“BIG NEWS lol jk still twitter,” wrote Twitter.
Earlier this week, Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg revealed the company’s new name, Meta, at his company’s Connect event, saying they hope to be viewed as a metaverse company over time.
According to Zuckerberg, the Facebook name is still closely tied to a single product and doesn’t represent everything the company does now.
