New Delhi: Twitter users in India express dissatisfaction with a sudden drop in the number of visitors. While some users claimed to have lost hundreds of followers in a matter of minutes, others claimed to have lost thousands of followers at one time, which significantly reduced their number of followers.
Twitter has started restoring its followers despite the platform performing a cleanup operation to remove bots and dormant accounts.
Twitter is known for cleaning up accounts to make them more secure and removing spam and bots. Twitter made a similar effort to clean up the site earlier this year, stating, “You may see some changes in the number of followers from time to time. The number of followers does not include accounts that have been asked for their password or theirs Confirm phone number until you have done so. This is something we do on a regular basis to prevent spam and keep all accounts secure. “
In a similar development, Twitter announced the removal of over 3,000 accounts used as “overseas-related information operations”. According to Reuters, the suspended Twitter accounts were linked to operations attributed to six countries, including Mexico, China and Russia.
Meanwhile, Twitter has announced that it will not allow users to distribute private media files such as photos or videos without their consent.
Media files that contained critical information such as a person’s home address, ID documents or contact details had already been banned by the group. The new guidelines, on the other hand, aim to tackle posts that may cause harassment or harm to your personal space.
Interestingly, the new rules come just a day after the company announced Parag Agrawal as its new Chief Executive Officer (CEO), following the departure of Twitter co-founder Jack Dorsey.
