New Delhi: Swedish caller identification app Truecaller launched its latest version 12 on Thursday with a new video caller ID feature, call recording for free users and a redesigned user interface (UI).
A total of five features were announced as part of the Truecaller Version 12 update.
“Truecaller is an important part of communication for over 22 million Indians, both for their professional and personal needs. We are humble at the trust people have placed in us, but we are also driven by the goal, communication to transform, “Rishit Jhunjhunwala, Chief Product Officer and Managing Director of Truecaller India, said in a statement.
The video caller ID feature allows users to set a short video that will play automatically when they call friends and family. Users can choose from one of the built-in video templates or record their own video.
Another function is call announcement. Once activated, the new optional feature will say the caller ID out loud for incoming phone calls. This works for both saved contacts and Truecaller identified numbers for both normal voice calls and Truecaller HD voice calls.
Truecaller has also made the call recording feature available to its free users, which will come in handy in professional note-taking scenarios. You can listen to or delete recordings in Truecaller or using a file browser. Recordings can also be easily shared via email, bluetooth or any messaging service.
The update brings Ghost Call, this Truecaller allows users to set any name, number and photo to make it look like they are receiving a call from that person. Users can also select a contact from their phone book for the ghost call.
In addition, the updated Truecaller app also has a streamlined user interface where you have separate tabs for calls and SMS messages. With separate tabs, you can now access all of your SMS, Truecaller group and individual chats with just one tap.
Truecaller recently announced that it has reached 300 million active users worldwide.
India remains the largest market with over 220 million active users and a reach spread across the country.
