TOMMY FURY’s recent knockout win and the seismic impact on social media wowed everyone – except boxing fans.
On Saturday night, the beautiful 21-year-old Love Island ace flexed all his many, many muscles to send Scott Williams in two rounds.

With his 3.3 million Instagram followers, celebrity girlfriend, legendary fighting family and the charm of a boy next door, the highlight of the roller win should have been the prime-time show’s main event.
The broadcasters BT Sport – just like Sky Sports and everyone else – are calling for a crossover talent like TNT to overcome the barriers between sport and reality TV.
But Fury’s opponent came out on a 9-0 record and is now the fifth opponent chosen so as not to stand a chance of disturbing the starlet.
Fury’s first five opponents currently have a record of 12 wins, 5 draws and 175 losses.
And that last episode wasn’t announced as Fury’s youngest whipping boy until about 24 hours before the fight
BT Sport and promoter Frank Warren just haven’t been able to build any serious athletic hype or rivalry for Ring Adonis.
And explains why, despite the kind of following that might make looking at characters flutter, Tommy’s fight came shortly after three young debutants and before a part-time teacher.
Thankfully, Jake Paul – either the 21st century boxing savior or total grim death – sparked some trashy conversations with the Manchester man.

Just a few days after Tommy reminded the world of his fighter pedigree, spartan training regime, and aspirations for world titles, he wore Molly-Mae’s blonde wig to call out Paul 2-0, who was crying like a baby when his brother lost his debut in 2019.
YouTuber Paul is such a real attraction that his final “fight” against an unfortunate former NBA player – Nate Robinson – was on the Mike Tyson circus map against Roy Jones Jr.
The self-anointed “problem child” recently offered Conor McGregor $ 50 million for a fight – while insulting his wife.
And called the four-weight hero and pound-for-pound king Canelo of boxing a duck.
In contrast to Fury and alongside Logan, Jake Paul has gathered an audience that seems to be watching him fail.
Like Floyd Mayweather before them, the mantra seems to be “love me or hate me, you will pay me”.
But Tommy Fury is one of the few people in history who stepped onto a reality TV show and has a better reputation. For all the money and recognition, he still hasn’t done anything wrong.

Fellow Love Island star Jack Fincham has rather modest ambitions
Fury only had 12 amateur fights – and then lost a large chunk of his career to Love Island and the snowball success that followed – so he deserves plenty of time and space to make mistakes and learn his craft.
But now he’s 5-0, regularly on TV, talking about winning world titles – and instead of improving his skills in learning how to fight with journeyman, he’s making short-term sacrifices to fill his record.
Jack Fincham, a Love Island ace, boxed between the ages of 14 and 18, won 18 of his 26 amateur fights and is about to make his pro debut.
Speaking to SunSport last October, he admitted that his highest ambition was a prestigious but humble title in the South Region.
Whether Tommy wants to be seen as a serious competitor or a big buck novelty, he puts in the hours that deserve respect.
The young man was at the ring when Deontay Wilder almost beheaded his brother and Kubrat Pulev watched him slice Cousin Hughie in the eye
Tommy will know that he can make modest money in high-risk fights with Kieron Conway, the Northern Area champion, or the English boss Dan Azeez.

Or he can make mega-dough for semi-hard brawls with one of the Paul brothers, maybe lure Rio Ferdinand out of his boxing retirement, or have a grudge match with a Hollyoaks star.
Idris Virgo, the Birmingham boxer who tries to make a living making people hate him, was on Love Island a year before Fury.
Since leaving the mansion he has reached 9-0-1 on Channel 5 and also poleaxed poor Scott Williams early in his career.
Virgo offered Fury a fight and unlike all of their previous battles together, this would be a fair fight between two celebs talking a great game.
The structure would be a soap opera, the trash talk would be slapstick, but at least we could take it seriously afterwards.
Tommy’s incredible support means he will be a huge hit each and every journey, but if boxing is really in his blood we may have to see him spill something soon.
