If you thought you had enough of Instagram’s “Reels” features, Facebook has a similar concept for you, but with a twist.

Social media giant Facebook has launched a new app called BARS, dubbed “TikTok-Look-Alike,” but with a more focused audience and minor changes.

The app was developed by Facebook’s New Product Experimentation (NPE) research and development team and is currently only available as part of closed beta testing.

“No formal rap experience required – you can create something great whether you’ve just thought of a dope couplet or you’ve been freestyling for years,” said DJ Iyer, community manager at BARS, on a blog post.

This app allows users to create and share canola with built-in tools that allow users to create canola with no formal background or rapping experience.

While the timeframe and other concepts are similar to the Reels feature of TikTok and Instagram, the BARS app is specifically designed for rap-only content creation and is different from all other short video platforms.

This app can suggest rhymes using a rhyming dictionary to help the budding rapper flow. There are also pre-recorded beats and pre-installed tools like Clean, AutoTune, Imaginary Friends, and AM Radio that you can use to record a professional style of rap.

“I know that budding rappers may have limited access to high-priced recording studios and production equipment. Additionally, the global pandemic has suspended live performances where we often create and share our work,” said DJ Iyer. “Together with a group of aspiring rappers, we built BARS: a place where aspiring rappers can create and share their art.”

As of now, the app is only available in the US App Store and is available to selected iOS users. The app also has a waiting list that users can sign up on to use the platform after it’s published.
