The famous short video sharing platform TikTok is testing a new Snapchat-like feature for disappearing videos.
TikTok has introduced a new “Stories” feature, in which content creators can post videos and photos that, unlike other media content on the platform, disappear after a while.

Although this feature is similar to Snapchat, Instagram, and Facebook Stories, TikTok has added a twist of its own to it. Before uploading the media content, users can add text, color, stickers, etc. Users who see these stories can react, comment and like like on Instagram and Facebook. Unlike other apps, however, the story comments are available to the author in the story itself and not in a personal or direct message.
“We are always thinking of new ways to add value to our community and enrich the TikTok experience,” a TikTok spokesman for the BBC is quoted as saying. “We’re currently experimenting with ways to provide YouTubers with additional formats to bring their creative ideas to life for the TikTok community.”

It did so almost at the same time that the social media platform Twitter rolled back its fleet feature, which also allowed users to post disappearing stories. Twitter failed to achieve success with its fleets, which is why the company decided to discontinue the feature.
Meanwhile, the WhatsApp messaging app is also trying a new feature that allows users to send videos and photos with the “View once” option. While Facebook-owned WhatsApp is hoping to give users more privacy, TikTok, which is owned by ByteDance, is hoping to beat its competing platforms.
