New Delhi: The short video platform TikTok has banned the popular “milk crate challenge” out of concern that users participating in the trend could be seriously injured. The challenge was for TikTok users to stack milk crates in a pyramid and then attempt to climb over the unstable structure, TechCrunch reported.
“TikTok prohibits content that promotes or glorifies dangerous conduct, and we are removing videos and directing searches to our community guidelines to deter such content. We encourage everyone to be careful with their behavior online or offline, ”a company spokesman was quoted as saying.
Most of the videos depicting the trend show TikTok users falling to the ground trying to climb one side of the makeshift pyramid and climb down the other.
The ban comes after several health care workers posted on social media their concerns about the trend and the danger it poses to attendees.
When searching for the hashtag of the trend in the app, the message “No results found” is now displayed, the report says.
The search results page informs users that “This phrase may be related to behavior or content that violates our policies. Promoting a safe and positive experience is a top priority at TikTok.”
However, some videos depicting the trending are still visible in the app when users search for misspellings of keywords associated with the challenge, such as: Also Read: ITR Filing: 5 Mistakes To Avoid When Filing Income Tax Returns
It’s worth noting that while these videos didn’t get a lot of views, they still managed to slip through the cracks of the ban and stay on the app. Also read: 7. Salary commission: Parental leave allowance can be increased during the Christmas period, check how you can calculate the salary increase
