Bjornsson, who was considerably heavier at the time than now, struggled to keep up with the elusive Notorious.

During an appearance on the IMPAULSIVE podcast, he recalled: “It was cool, I had a lot of fun.

“There was a time when I grabbed him and I thought, ‘I can destroy this guy.’

“But he had a fight against Aldo a week later I think so I thought, ‘I better be nice to him because I don’t want to hurt him now.

“‘He’s facing the biggest fight of his life. It’s going to be a huge fight for him.’

“That fight actually got him to the moon, basically. He should thank me and probably pay me a little for it [not crushing him]. “

Bjornsson – who played The Mountain on GOT – believes he would crush the UFC’s figurehead if they ever had a real fight.

The strong man said to Off The Ball, “Bring me some shorts and put us in a cage, I’ll fight again.

“I’ve had it a couple of times, but I just didn’t want to break it. I thought, ‘Damn it, I’m not going to chase that little guy!’

“He’s running around, you know? I don’t have cardio to run after little guys. “

He later added, “If I grabbed it, it would be over in ten seconds.”

Bjornsson, 32, took part in a boxing match against arm wrestler Devon Larratt earlier this month, which he stopped in the first round of their showdown in Dubai.

McGregor is currently recovering from the broken leg he suffered in his UFC 264 trilogy fight with Dustin Poirier in July.
