Telegram and WhatsApp, the most widely used messaging apps, have come into conflict again as the former mock the latter on social media. WhatsApp has announced a new chat broadcast feature that Telegram compared to a film-based Jumanji GIF on Twitter. Telegram has already made this feature available to its users.
Recently, WhatsApp added support that makes it easy to transfer chats from an iOS device to an Android device. When WhatsApp tweeted about the new chat broadcasting feature, Telegram responded in a tweet with a Jumanji GIF that said, “What year is it?” The tweet received more than 12,400 likes and 520 replies.
Telegram made fun of WhatsApp and introduced this feature back in 2013. However, it is important to note that Telegram is a cloud-based messaging service and stores WhatsApp chats on your smartphone. Imagine Telegram has access to all of your messages, which means they can forward those chats to any other device that you’re signed in to. WhatsApp meanwhile offers end-to-end encrypted chats, which means that the messages will be deleted from the WhatsApp servers.
This isn’t the first time Telegram and WhatsApp have argued over some of their features as Telegram used to openly mock WhatsApp on social media.
