New Delhi: SpaceX CEO Elon Musk emailed his company to work on SpaceX’s Raptor engine over the weekend as the company is at “real risk of bankruptcy” unless it is speeds up production.

In the email, Musk revealed that the company is at “real bankruptcy risk” if production is not increased to support a high rate of flight of the company’s new Starship missile next year, The Verge reports.

“Unfortunately, the Raptor production crisis is much worse than it seemed a few weeks ago,” Musk reportedly wrote.

“Unfortunately, when we investigated the problems following the departure of the previous management, they turned out to be far more serious than reported. There is no way to gloss over this.”

Raptor’s engine is a critical component of Starship that SpaceX hopes will one day carry cargo and people to the moon and Mars.

Musk also revealed that instead of taking the weekend off as planned, he would work on the Raptor all night and over the weekend. Then he also urged employees without “critical family matters” to work and said it was time for all employees on deck.

“The consequence for SpaceX, if we can’t make enough reliable raptors, is that we won’t be able to fly a Starship, which means that we won’t be able to fly the Starlink Satellite V2 (Falcon has neither the volume * nor * the mass that for one orbit is required for satellite V2). Satellite V1 alone is financially weak while V2 is strong, “added Musk.

Earlier this month, Musk said he expected Starship to be launched for the first time in January, subject to Federal Aviation Authority (FAA) approvals. Also Read: October WhatsApp Compliance Report: 2 Million Indian Accounts Suspended, 500 Reports Received
