Singapore-based ride-hailing and payment company Grab named Alex Hungate, CEO of in-flight catering service provider and airport ground handler SATS, as its new Chief Operating Officer effective January 2022.
Hungate joins Grab after Southeast Asia’s largest ride-hailing-to-food delivery company reached a record-breaking merger agreement with US blank check company Altimeter Growth Corp earlier this year to get listed in the US.
Grab said in a statement that Hungate joined the company as it has expanded from ride-hailing into several new segments over the past three years.
SATS said last week that Hungate will be leaving the company in December after serving as CEO for eight years. Previously, he was CEO of HSBC Singapore, among other things.
