There is nothing more satisfying than swiping with your favorite lipstick. But this enjoyable experience quickly goes downhill when your lipstick snaps in half. Try this beauty hack to fix your broken heart before you toss that $ 20 lippie in the trash. Well, um, broken lipstick.
In this episode of Pretty Beautiful, video producer Lisa Azcona repairs a broken lipstick with two tools: a lighter and a cotton swab. And it couldn’t be easier.
To fix a broken lipstick, twist the lipstick tube until the remaining lipstick is fully extended. Then smooth out the broken edge with a cotton swab. After smoothing, take a lighter and melt the surface of the remaining lipstick. Long neck lighters are especially good for this task because the flame stays away from your fingers.

Next, use a cotton swab to smooth the base of the broken lipstick tip. Also, use a lighter to warm the bottom of this broken piece. Then glue the two pieces back together. Add a little more heat to the grout to securely melt the lipstick together and use the cotton swab to smooth out the grout. Then put the lipstick in the freezer to harden.
OK, so Lisa’s attempt wasn’t exactly foolproof. Her lipstick broke again after applying – but she blames this shortcoming for the fact that the lipstick was not able to cure enough time. With a little more patience, this hack is beauty perfection.
“One thing I’m going to say is have napkins on hand because this hack is getting really messy,” Lisa says. “But I still think this hack is valuable because lipsticks can be very expensive.”
