Mysuru, Karnataka, August 26 (IANS) The gang rape of Mysuru has revealed more horrific details. The villains had made a video of their sexual assault on the college girl and requested Rs 3 lakh not to go viral on social media, police sources said Thursday.
The gang rape incident occurred late on Tuesday evening. A gang of six villains in a drunken state had targeted the victim who had come to the remote location with their male friend. They attacked their male friend with a small boulder.
Sources say the villains stripped the girl and raped her for almost two hours. Since the place is isolated and people were afraid of leopards, the villains were sure that their act would go unnoticed and that no one would come to the aid of the girl.
The villains had repeatedly hit, hit, and attacked the victim’s friend with a small boulder. Both pleaded not to tell anyone about the incident. After that, the gang continued their attack, leaving her almost unconscious in the remote location.
Somehow, the victim and her friend reached a hospital and notified the authorities that they had been attacked. They didn’t reveal what actually happened for fear of the video being released. But later, the victim’s male friend told the police about the rape.
The police have seized empty bottles and beer cans from the area. Police sources said they are working on tracking calls from the tower’s location as they suspect the villains are spending more time there.
In the meantime, the National Women’s Commission has taken note of the gang rape on Suo motu and has registered one case. The chairwoman Rekha Sharma has said that the commission will meet the victim on Thursday.
Opposition leader Siddaramaiah has accused the government of failing to maintain law and order in the state. Loot incidents and attacks are on the rise, he said.
The police are collecting information from the victim’s friend, but no breakthrough has yet been made. The state government has commissioned ADGP Pratap Reddy to investigate the incident.
The police are looking for clues as there are no video surveillance systems installed in this area. According to preliminary information from the girl and her friend, the rapists spoke in Kannada and stated that they are locals.
The police wait for the victim to give a detailed statement and use the information received to draw up sketches of the perpetrators.
