Teton Village, Wyo., October 27, 2021 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) – Cool, clear mountain air and fresh snow on Rendezvous Mountain mean it’s almost ski season at Jackson Hole Mountain Resort (YHMR). VP of Operations Tim Mason notes that staff were busy preparing for the winter opening on Thanksgiving Day. “We’re excited to announce that we plan to run all elevators at full capacity and manage daily capacity to improve the guest experience,” he says. “It’s going to be a great year to visit JHMR and we look forward to welcoming our guests again for another season.”
Health and safety protocols implemented
JHMR has implemented health and safety protocols to protect employees and guests, and continues to follow Teton County’s health regulations as they evolve. According to these instructions, JHMR will use the cable car, gondolas and chairlifts to full capacity this season. While the tram is at full capacity, the trunk package isn’t offered all the way to the top of the Rendezvous Bowl, but the lift system still allows open-air chair access to the top of the Sublette lift.
Teton County Public Health Order # 21-5 is still in effect, requiring people in Teton County to wear face covers in indoor public places through December 31, 2021. These guidelines require YHMR in all indoor spaces including restaurants, retail and rental stores, restrooms, and guest service centers. The tram is included in the definition of indoor public spaces due to its capacity for 100 people. No masks are required outside, including the base area, elevator lines, and other elevators.
Guests are asked to help prioritize health and safety, including following Teton County’s health regulations and wearing a mask. To help its guests, JHMR is offering full refunds on JHMR Season Pass products for any reason, less an administration fee, through November 15, 2021.
YHMR carries out mountain improvements
YHMR spent the summer modernizing the facilities and improving the mountain. This includes a major maintenance project on the Aerial Tram that is required every 12 years. The Mountain Operations team also led a variety of projects to improve the mountain for both summer and winter operations.
In order to offer at least two slopes with snowmaking from each lift, JHMR has expanded the snowmaking capacity with snowmaking on the Upper Wide Open. In addition, the fleet of snow cannons was upgraded by increasing energy efficiency and using high-performance cannons. The resort blew up 6,000 cubic feet of rock on the ship’s bow to widen the rendezvous traverse and was happy to have another six acres to add to the drivable area built at the top of the Teton Lift. The JH Parks and Trails crew built two new mountain bike trails that expanded the resort’s downhill mountain bike trail system. Teton Village Sports has been refurbished to expand its rental facility, which opens on November 19th. In the meantime, reservations for the boot fitting service can be made through JH Sports. The lockers have been expanded to include a new changing room on the third floor of the Bridger Center.
Extended winter operation increases the guest experience
To improve the guest experience, JHMR is limiting daily capacity and the resort encourages visitors to purchase their day tickets online in advance. Reservations are required for both Ikon and Mountain Collective Pass holders; However, YHMR pass holders do not need to make a reservation and can ski or ski on the days specified on the type of pass purchased.
As an added benefit, the resort has extended access times and starts loading the Teewinot and Après-Vous chairlifts and the Sweetwater gondola at 8:30 a.m.
The Teton Village Association is introducing automated park gates this season. Guests receive a ticket when they enter one of the four Village parking lots and pay when they exit. The START Bus service will offer its timetable from the city to the Stilson Lot and the Village, and the JHMR Season Pass now includes a Season Bus Pass that gives all eligible JHMR Pass holders free access to the START Bus service.
After five consecutive seasons of over 500 “snowfall and a forecast La Niña, Jackson Hole Mountain Resort looks forward to welcoming guests again for the 2021-22 season with anticipation of yet another great winter. Guests can rest assured that That YHMR prioritizes their health and safety.
