This mom’s simple hack will make your strawberries last two weeks in the refrigerator.
Strawberries are softer than other fruits and are spongy. This means that they absorb the moisture they come in contact with, which makes them mushy and spoils faster.
Kathleen Ashmore is a mom and home cook who shares healthy recipes on TikTok. Ashmore did an overwhelming trick to make sure your strawberries last as long as possible.

“PSA: Don’t waste your money on berries that last two days,” Ashmore said. “Would you believe these strawberries have been in my fridge for two weeks?”
The mother had a bowl of bright red strawberries that looked like they had just been bought fresh.
“The secret is plain white vinegar, which kills the mold inside the berries so they last longer,” explained Ashmore. “Soak in the solution for five minutes, strain and save. Game changing. ”
She advised using a 1 to 10 ratio of vinegar to water. Ashmore said that she usually opts for half a cup of vinegar and five cups of cold water. When someone asked if the strawberries tasted like vinegar, she clarified, “They really don’t. I usually don’t even bother rinsing them off and they’re fine. ”Ashmore added that the hack works for all berries.
