Juneau, a NASA spacecraft, ended its 10-year launch on Thursday, August 5th. The Juno mission began in 2011. After a five-year journey, the probe reached an elliptical polar orbit around the gas giant Jupiter.
NASA The Juno mission was first extended to July 2021 in June 2018. In 2021, however, the agency extended it again until September 2025, so that the spacecraft can transmit observations for at least the next four years.

Juno probes have been sharing Jupiter’s observations since 2016. The first observation Junho shared was that Jupiter’s streaks were much more common in the planet’s atmosphere. Space.com..
It was also able to sense Jupiter’s internal magnetic field, making it the only planet outside Earth that had this magnetic field. In addition, Junho also discovered that the aurora of Jupiter is different from the aurora on Earth. The probe also gave scientists an inside view of the ring of the planet. In addition, the publication goes on to report that Juno has helped scientists study flat lightning bolts and mushrooms.
One of the spacecraft’s many achievements is that the spacecraft has been closest since 2000, when NASA’s Galileo approached Ganymede and flew 645 miles from Jupiter’s moon Ganymede.
The spacecraft, which celebrated its 10th birthday on August 5th, also sent some remarkable photos of the systems around Jupiter and the planet. It shared a photo of Jupiter’s Great Red Spot in 2017. It continues to share more discoveries and images with NASA scientists who operate it from the Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena, California.
