By uniting these three pillars, the Museum of Tomorrow has become the 41st national stage – technology, science and information. The “Coronaceno: Reflections of the Epidemic” exhibition was distinguished by providing museum visitors with knowledge about the virus and its transmission methods.
Over 4.5 million people have already had the opportunity to visit this tourist attraction, which opened in 2015. Sustainability, globalization and urban problems have already been thematized in museum exhibitions and although they are different topics, they have always been linked at one point: science. It is precisely at this point that the foundation reaffirms its social commitment in times of the pandemic – the democratization of scientific information and findings.
“The museum has opened up a new audience for the science and science publication institutes. The foundation invests in exhibitions and events that encourage discussion of the effects of science on society and reflection on our future, as well as in the training of publishers, educators and students. It is important to note that the Museum of Tomorrow has been added to the tourism and educational calendar. For the city of Rio de Janeiro and the country, however, his influence is not limited to the city of Rio de Janeiro, as he used social media to broadcast their activities adapted to the language of these media, ”explained Evaldo Ferreira Villella, who is responsible for the award President of CNPq.
The award continues to raise expectations for the further democratization of the Museum of Tomorrow. An online series of “Tomorrows Here and Now” conversations launched during the pandemic was essential to provide entertainment and knowledge in a time of social isolation. The geological epochs and cosmic history exhibits available to those who visited space before the pandemic are now receiving Coronaceno, an invitation to the public to reflect on the changes in the pandemic world and the importance of science in this context to strengthen.
“The award puts us in the window of great scientific institutions, great researchers and communicators. It is a great honor to receive such recognition from an institution like CNPq for innovative knowledge sharing with the general public, especially in a year when science has become and proven to be a part of people’s daily lives for our existence ”, commented Ricardo Pique, President of the IDG – Institute for Development and Management, responsible for the administration of the Museum of Tomorrow.
