The partnership program will introduce Mobily partners to innovative gaming, entertainment and education solutions to develop innovative 5G services for the consumer market
To improve its position in 5G services and accelerate the uptake of 5G applications by all sectors and consumers in Saudi Arabia, Mobily has signed an agreement with Ericsson to share experiences and leverage its global 5G application partnership program that will help him to contribute to the digital economy mandate of Vision 2030.
The program enables partnerships between communication service providers, leading companies and start-ups with the aim of developing innovative solutions and applications via 5G. With this agreement, Mobily has access to 25 years of ICT research from Ericsson’s ConsumerLab enhancing its progress in this area, as well as exclusive access to a global network of 5G startups looking to digitally transform 5G networks in the Middle East.
The collaboration between Mobily and Ericsson will drive 5G technology research in the region. The program supports Mobily’s efforts in developing innovative consumer-centric 5G applications and services by connecting Mobily with a variety of companies that offer AR and AI solutions. Due to the low latency of 5G, new use cases in the areas of embedded experience, AR and AI games, esports, music and entertainment services can be supported.
Ismail Al-Ghamdi, Mobily’s Chief Consumer Officer, said, “We are excited to be working on Ericsson’s 5G program, which will help connect us with a group of startups that are leaders in 5G applications. This partnership is a step towards achieving a leading position in digital transformation over 5G technologies in the UK. As the demand for 5G services increases in the UK, we want to offer innovative and useful services and applications to our customers. We believe this program will support our efforts by drawing on extensive consumer experience and research. “
Jasmeet Singh Sethi, Head of ConsumerLab at Ericsson Research, said, “We are very excited to be working with Mobily on the Ericsson Startup 5G program to drive 5G consumer innovation in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia by adding our curated selection of global Use startups. The collaboration gives Mobily the opportunity to meet consumer demand for innovative apps and digital services and to monetize new 5G consumer offerings. “
Ekow Nelson, VP of Ericsson Middle East and Africa, said: “We are very excited to be working with Mobily and having them on board our 5G program. We believe that this collaboration will not only help Mobily develop innovative consumer-centric 5G services, but will also massively support the expansion of 5G in the Kingdom, which is an important pillar for the realization of the Saudi Arabia Vision 2030. 5G technology has the potential to vastly improve the user experience of Mobily and we hope to help the region make this a reality and develop it. “
Ericsson recently published the largest global 5G consumer study report, “Five Ways to a Better 5G,” which estimates that an additional 300 million users would use 5G in 2021. In addition, the June 2021 edition of the Ericsson Mobility Report predicts more than 580 million 5G users by the end of 2021, making it even more important for CSPs to develop and deliver innovative consumer services as 5G technology continues to accelerate globally.
