LIONEL MESSI donated the boots, for which he scored his record-breaking 644th goal, to charity to raise money for children with cancer.
In December, the six-time Ballon d’Or winner scored in a 2-2 draw against Valencia in Barcelona.

The goal hit Peles 643 goals for a single club – although the Brazilian legend and his former club Santos deny it.
Now the boots are sitting in the Museu Nacional d’Art de Catalunya in Barcelona.
They stay there for a month before being auctioned off for charity
As reported by Sport.ES, Messi said: “I enjoy achieving the historical total of 644 goals for the same club, but the most important thing is giving something back to the children who are fighting for their health.
“We hope the April auction will increase knowledge of this great thing.”
Messi’s sponsor Adidas previously paid tribute to the 33-year-old for “redefining size”.
They edited a video showing a young Messi who seems to be looking to the future by writing ‘644’ on a glass with a black pen.
It read: “From the streets of Rosario to the Coliseum of Barcelona. From a 13 year old boy with a dream to a 33 year old captain who redefined size.

“From his first professional goal 15 years ago to his 644th and 46-year record.
Year after year, goal for goal @leomessi continues to write history. He starts his journey as a promising young player and will leave as the greatest of all time.
“After all, records are only there to be broken.”
According to Pele’s old club Santos, Messi has NOT broken the record for individual club goals.
The Brazilian club have issued a long statement insisting that Pele actually scored 1,091 goals during his time at the club.
The article was written by an author from the Association of Researchers and Historians of Santos FC.
