MEGHAN Markle has come a long way since their glittering wedding exactly two years ago in Windsor.
Few of the 1 billion global audience could have imagined on this bright, sunny day that the newly married Duchess would exchange her new license fee for the construction of ‘Brand Markle’ in California.

This week’s announcement that the campaign duchess’s charity Archewell would be partnering with an American multinational consumer goods company shocked many who had hoped the March interview with Oprah Winfrey would be followed by a long period of silence.
Instead, the Duchess has teamed up with Procter & Gamble, a company that has historically been linked to scandals – and that was condemned by Meghan as a sexist almost 30 years ago.
Many will compare Meghan’s endorsement of Procter & Gamble to her own lifestyle.
The American giant’s beauty products include olay, ivory soap, coty, and herbal essences.
Is Meghan really going to hold Procters ‘herbal essences’ or Pantene shampoo?
In her search for wellness therapies for a modern life, Meghan only uses products that are labeled as biological and holistic.
She visits the most expensive shops looking for gongs, crystal bowls and chakra balancing.
She encourages people to pay £ 60 for a vitamin B skin patch and to spend £ 4,398 for a week in a “breathing workshop”.
A major U-turn
No doubt the executives at P&G in Cincinnati, Ohio are laughing at their PR coup.

Meghan once called Procter & Gamble “sexist” for their advertising
Presumably she pulled a heavy price off to deliver her forgiveness.
In Meghan and Harry’s need for more cash to fund their high-octane celebrity lifestyle, the Sussexes negotiators will charge millions of dollars from corporations to be associated with Princess Diana’s youngest son.
But Procter executives still have time to wonder if their business might not turn out to be a pact with the devil.
“Fairy Do-Go or Feelings”
Of course, Meghan’s announcement is dressed in fairy feelings.
There’s all this flowery talk about how their partnership would “raise the voices of teenage girls” and “focus on gender equality, more inclusive online spaces, and resilience and impact through exercise”.

Together they pledge to support a homeless shelter for pregnant women “to ensure that parents of … all walks of life receive the support they need”.
Corporations these days are doing somersaults to check all politically correct boxes.
But should we believe the promises or blow the torrent aside and look at reality?
Loved ones cut off
“Brand Markle”, Meghan has repeatedly pleaded, exists to “build compassion all over the world”.
The former actress has repeatedly preached about the need to “be kind to one another”.
So often do their allies condemn their critics. They advocate that “good will lies in their bones”.

Talk about Meghan’s “compassion” with her father Thomas Markle, who has been cruelly ostracized by his daughter since 2018.
Or tell Trevor Engelson, her first husband, and all of Meghan’s friends who complain about being fired after failing to meet their ambitious expectations.

And above all, think of Meghan’s sympathy for the Queen, William and Kate and all the other members of the royal family who were mercilessly destroyed by their new relative during the interview with Oprah Winfrey.
Ask them if they believe in Meghan’s holy crusade to spread goodness.
Advert for ‘Brand Markle’
Even before she married Harry, there were fears that Meghan had embarked on a mission to promote ‘Brand Markle’.
Some warned that the political activist’s plans for self-promotion would dangerously collide with the sober caution of Brand Windsor.

The British monarchy, Meghan didn’t seem to understand, thrives by being boring, undisputed and inclusive of the Queen’s subjects.
Still, most were happy that Harry had found true love, most of all through the California “progressive” advocate for global causes.
Confusion turned to disappointment after the climate change activist used private jets and denied the public any sight of Archie, their new baby.

Many were outraged when they saw the couple in an ITV documentary set near the world’s most deprived slums in South Africa, and argued that no one sympathized with their own problems.
Many British viewers condemned the Sussexes as hypocrites.
Of course, in America, Meghan hit the right buttons telling Oprah Winfrey how she and Archie were the victims of royal family racism.
Americans believed that their requests for help avoiding suicide had been rejected by a senior Buckingham Palace official.

Condemning defenseless Kate as the cause of Meghan’s crying just before the wedding was credible to Procter & Gamble executives.
A partnership with the tearful duchess the eyes of a deer, they think in Cincinnati, will build their credibility.
At some point, however, the truth will emerge.
Procter & Gamble will then have to reevaluate their connection with Meghan.
A problematic partnership
But before that, another more mundane problem will arise.

In the near future, Procter & Gamble will find that the contradictions in Meghan’s life – what she says and what she does – will be a stinging rebuke for her investment.
As the House of Windsor found, only one person benefits from ‘Brand Markle’.
