Make-up by Mario Nikki Ultra Suede Lipstick ($ 24.00 for 0.14 oz.) Is a soft, medium orange-copper with moderate, warm undertones and a matte finish. It had rich color delivery in a single stroke, and the texture applied better than most shades in the series, making it more comfortable to apply and wear while still staying in place and not slipping.
The texture was slightly velvety, tighter in the tube but not excessive. This shade lasted a good four and a half hours and felt neither drying nor moisturizing.

Formula overview
$ 24.00 / 0.14 oz. – $ 171.43 per ounce
The formula is said to be a “comfortable matte” finish that provides “full coverage” that “does not dry” and includes “smoothing gels and texturizing powders” that provide a “smooth, matte, soft appearance”. It’s a silicone-heavy formula that is thin, very light and has a “soft-matte” finish that is mostly matte, but not quite as flat at first as a real matte lipstick.
I find that this type of formula is published more frequently by a wide variety of brands and they are not often very differentiated. Unfortunately, in my experience, most of these formulas tend to highlight lip texture and imperfections – especially around to catch flakes, even slight dryness – and dissolve into lip wrinkles as you wear them down. The lighter shades are usually the hardest to apply and perform poorly, while medium and deep shades are smoother and more flattering to apply.
I noticed that the red and berry tones of the series in the tube seemed stiffer than most of the other shades in the series, and this resulted in the base of the lipstick breaking off the twist mechanism (which broke the following sunglasses: Alicia, Kiana, Kristen, Amanda).
The pigmentation varied from a semi-opaque to an opaque covering power, with lighter shades exhibiting a purer covering power compared to deeper shades. The initial consistency was firmer in the tube, though not so severe that I pulled painfully, but I found this tends to provide less pigmentation and tends to be a better application when building shorter, overlapping strokes overall.
The formula didn’t dry out and was very light so it felt like I had nothing on, but they only wore on between two and five hours with some hues exceeding this range (like a red).

Makeup by Mario Alicia Ultra Suede Lipstick ($ 24.00 for 0.14 oz.) Is a lighter, medium red with neutral to warm undertones and a matte finish. It had a semi-opaque, buildable paint cover that was best applied in shorter, overlapping strokes as the texture in the tube was quite firm and stiff, so it tugged a little and broke at the base when used in a more fluid one became movement.
The product was applied fairly evenly, but was more prone to clustering around the imperfections in the lip texture and loosening along my deeper lip lines. It wore neatly for five hours, left a moderate stain, and felt a little dry over time.
