The engineer and his wife face two cases filed by the ACC
A Kushtia court on Thursday sent the community’s chief engineer, Robiul Islam, to jail after surrendering to a money laundering case filed by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).
Kushtia special judge Ashraful Islam has issued the order to dismiss bail bail submitted by the defendant during a hearing, said ACC attorney Al Muizahid Hossain Mithu.
On September 28, the Assistant Director of the ACC District Coordinated Office in Kushtia Neel Komol Paul filed a lawsuit against Robiul and his wife Kamrunnahar, a lecturer at Kushtia Islamia College, under the ACC Act 2004 and Money Laundering Prevention Act 2012.

According to the case, Robiul and his wife had Tk39. 34 lakh fortune which mismatches their known source of income that they laundered.
Both defendants were bailed until Thursday’s hearing.
Meanwhile, ACC filed another case against them Thursday for acquiring illicit wealth, and Robiul was charged as a co-defendant in the case.
