Thrissur: CPM leader Kodiyeri Balakrishnan has called for a full investigation into the controversial Kodakara black money case. He appealed to the investigation team to include all known facts in the investigation.
“Every day there are new reports on the case. Therefore, it is necessary to conduct a detailed investigation of all matters uncovered. The facts also require an efficient investigation into the case, ”said Kodiyeri.
“Trying to bribe candidates to withdraw their nominations is one of the most common incidents during the election. The electoral commission has set the maximum amount a candidate can spend on campaigning. If the limit is exceeded, it will be offset against the parties’ expenses. A central or state committee of the party can spend the money. As this is a national party, the BJP’s election expenditure should be checked to see if it is included, ”he added.
The CPM leader also slammed the central authorities over the case.
“We should wait for the investigation into the case to progress and observe it when a central office takes over the case. Usually the Enforcement Directorate itself takes action to investigate the case after observing the reports. But they are not interested in investigating the Kodakara black money case. This fact illustrates their position on the case, ”added Kodiyeri.
