Beijing, June 22nd (Xinhuanet) – The following is a summary of science and technology news published in China.
Decreased oxygen content
A Chinese research team recently revealed new low oxygen risks in large cities around the world and expressed concerns about people’s health and the potential for sustainable development in large cities.
A team from Lanzhou University examined the oxygen balance and the associated risks in 391 cities worldwide with over 1 million inhabitants. The results of the survey show that urban areas of the world, which make up 3.8% of the world’s land surface, were responsible for about 39% of the oxygen consumption on land between 2001 and 2015.
Changes in the paleoclimate
Chinese researchers have developed indicators to track changes in paleoclimate in the upper Yangtze River over the past 13,000 years.
Researchers have collected several indicator data from core sediments of lakes in the central Qinghai-Tibetan Plateau to create high-resolution records of climate change and the effects of the monsoons.
They distinguished four stages of paleoclimatization since the last ice age. The relatively cold of the last ice age, the warm and humid conditions of the early Holocene, the cool and dry conditions of the middle and late Holocene and the last 2000 years.
Space tracking ship
China’s far-sighted spacecraft No. 6 returned to its homeport on Monday after completing telemetry, tracking and command (TT&C) tasks for the Tianzhou 2 unmanned spacecraft and the Shenzhou 12 manned spacecraft. ..
China’s third generation space tracking ship, Yuanwang-6, has been at sea for 29 days and has covered more than 5,000 nautical miles in two missions. It provided important communication between the spacecraft and the ground.
