New Delhi: Google is working on a similar feature to Apple’s Find My Device to help users find their lost devices easily. The feature is said to help over three billion Android users around the world.

The feature called ‘Spot’ was discovered in the latest beta from Google Play Services, which displays a code referring to the ability of phones to find other devices, reports 9to5 Google.

Currently, the beta version refers to finding “other people’s devices” and does not list what type of devices, such as phones, tablets, watches, and headphones. Also read: Heavy rain causes devastating damage in Nepal, at least 16 dead, 22 missing

The current “Find My Device” system, which is described on the Google support page, can only find smartphones that are switched on, have a data or WiFi signal and have location services activated.

However, the ‘Spot’ feature also helps Android users to find a lost phone with no internet signal.

The Find My app on iPhone, iPad, iPod touch and Mac makes it easy to find missing Apple devices and keep in touch with friends and family while protecting user privacy.

If a user ever loses their Apple device, the Find My app allows them to find it on a map, play a sound to pinpoint their location, put it in Lost Mode to instantly lock it, and view a message with a contact number. They can also remotely erase the device if it falls into the wrong hands. Also Read: Delhi Activist Bail Case: Why the Supreme Court Ruled the Delhi High Court’s Order “Surprising”
