I started taking a new drug early last year and I didn’t realize it months later, but it actually caused deep, cystic acne, and a lot of it, in places I’d never had them before. I originally thought it was just from stress (I was busy plus the pandemic!) But two weeks without medication the cystic acne went away.
However, it has really affected me mentally and physically – I looked at my skin and just cried because it never was and nothing worked to make it better. I still have spots and scars after acne; I did two chemical peels to speed up some healing which definitely helped – I’ve never done one before but it was very worth it in my case. However, I’ve gotten more thorough at cleaning – I used to be pretty good, but now I’m good at A + level.
