The American multinational Google recently released the first Android 12 Developer Preview. One of the most anticipated changes to the next version of Android is the brand new user interface.
According to The Verge, there is a possibility that Google is planning to add stacks of widgets to the Android 12 home screen, similar to the Smart Stacks feature introduced in iOS 14 that lets you “stack” widgets of the same size and scroll between them.
This would be a pretty big improvement for widgets in general, as it would allow users to make better use of the space on their home screen. Some of the UI changes that were previously leaked have also been confirmed with this new developer preview.
Users may now be able to activate a new lock screen and an always-on display with larger clock text stacked with the hours over the minutes. It moves to the right on the lock screen when notifications arrive.
The always-on display also shows a new placement of the notification icons in the top left of the screen. While it is difficult to determine what these UI changes will look like in their final form, Google plans to change certain aspects of the UI like the appearance of notifications if they even make it to the final version of Android 12, according to The Verge .
These developer preview tips provide an interesting look at what other changes might be in store.
