Currently, most of the vehicles sold in India for more than 10 rupees offer 6 airbags in at least top trim levels. However, at the end of the segment budget, most vehicles are equipped with up to two airbags. All vehicles sold in India after August 31, 2021 will require at least two airbags. Most models, including some of the cheapest cars on the market today, are already equipped with two airbags. The requirements for the two airbags have recently become mandatory. Before that, vehicles without airbags were also offered.
According to an official statement, the SIAM delegation also called for future emissions-based regulations such as BS6 Phase 2, CAFÈ Phase 2 and OBD regulations for motorcycles to be postponed.
