However, the Predator’s clause and various UFC extensions make things a lot more complicated.
That is why the Cameroonian thug is looking for better conditions and is even considering going the same way as other former MMA stars who are now boxing.
Ngannou told Ariel Helwani during MMA Hour: “You tried to put pressure on these extensions but I haven’t signed a new contract.
“And I think that’s basically the problem. That’s what causes all of these problems because I don’t want to sign a new contract on specific terms.
“It doesn’t work for me because I don’t feel protected in this regard. I’ve fought twice in the last two years and then I have to borrow money to leave.
“Nobody cares. I have no guarantee on this deal. And I have no offer.
“So based on that experience, I want to get something better. Better terms for my contract and of course [get paid] what i deserve.
“I have the feeling that I don’t have to borrow any money for my training camp. At some point I’ll go after them [boxing] Money. I’ll do the boxing. That’s for sure.
“From what has been said, I am an independent contractor. So what I want, I want a contract with a possible one [termination] Date, so I’ll do what I want afterward.
“So it is, independent contractor, with a possible termination date. After that you’re free, aren’t you?
“Then from then on you have the right to decide again where you are going and what you are going to do.
“You don’t have to be forced to sign or stay in the [same] Contract. Then this is not an independent contractor. “
According to SBNation, Ngannou’s problems are not an isolated case, as this is exactly what some fighters are currently trying to address in the class action lawsuit against the UFC.
Various personalities in the fighting world have spoken out against paying the organization for fighters, such as YouTuber who became a boxer Jake Paul.
Paul recently said, “I am optimistic and something that needs to change.
“For my fight, when we were working out the undercard, I thought, ‘We have to make sure this fight, these fighters, every single person on this card is paid as much as they ever got paid for the fight.’
“I just want to spread the wealth and talk about my words and put actions behind my words and be the change instead of just talking about the change.”
