A fourth round of stimulus checks could be on the way after President Joe Biden delivered his first address to Congress on Wednesday night.
During his speech, Biden pointed out the 160 million Covid relief checks sent out as part of his landmark America Rescue Plan and prompted Google to look for a fourth payment to see a spike.

Biden didn’t mention an additional round of payments
“We have kept our commitment, Democrats and Republicans, to provide 85 percent of American households with $ 1,400 bailout checks,” said Biden during his address.
“We’ve already sent over 160 million checks out the door. It makes a difference. You all know when you go home. For many people, it makes all the difference in the world.”
Searches for “Biden Fourth Stimulus” and “Biden Fourth Stimulus Check” increased 250 percent when Biden spoke.
While not mentioning an additional round of payments, Biden highlighted two letters he had received from a mother and a grandmother and informed him how much the checks had helped them.
“I came from a mother in Texas who told me she couldn’t work,” said Biden.
“She said the relief check put food on the table and saved her and her son from being evicted from their home.
“A grandmother in Virginia who told me she took her granddaughter to the ophthalmologist right away, something she said she put off for months because she didn’t have the money.”

While it’s unclear whether further government relief is in sight, Democratic support for extra money is growing.
Last month, 50 Democratic Members of the House and 21 Democratic Senators signed a letter asking Biden to send out recurring stimulus payments until the pandemic ends.
“Unemployment insurance has replaced the lost income of millions who have lost their jobs. However, millions of others are not eligible for unemployment insurance after they have cut their hours, switched to low-paying jobs, or left the workforce temporarily to change their jobs To take care of family members. ” Pandemic, “read the letter.
“This crisis is far from over and families deserve the assurance that they can put food on the table and have a roof over their heads.”

Biden has not yet addressed the letter publicly.
However, a survey conducted by Data for Progress in January found that 65 percent of Americans support recurring monthly payments of $ 2,000 for the remainder of the pandemic.
Should Biden support such a motion, the proposal would likely be rejected by Republicans in both the House and Senate.
The final round of stimulus relief, a key component of Biden’s America Rescue Plan, passed without GOP support.

Potential payments would also take a legislative hurdle, as reconciliation – the budgetary process that Democrats used to pass the last stimulus package – cannot be used again until October 1, when the fiscal year is reset.
Biden would also likely use this process to enforce other management priorities once it becomes available again.
According to the Urban Institute & Brookings Tax Policy Center, a fourth round of stimulus checks would bring more than seven million Americans past the poverty line.
