New Delhi: The Karnataka cabinet decided on Saturday to ban online gambling or wagering. However, lottery and horse racing are not prohibited.

“We are amending the Karnataka Police Act to end online gambling based on instructions from the Supreme Court. Cabinet approved the changes and they will be presented to the Assembly,” said Minister of Justice and Parliamentary Affairs said JC Madhuswamy.

Speaking to reporters after the cabinet meeting, he said the government had decided to ban online gambling.

“The draft law defines online games as games that involve all forms of wagering or wagering, including in the form of tokens that are valued in relation to the money paid before or after the issue or by electronic means and virtual currency, including electronic ones Transfer of currencies in connection with any game of chance, “said the minister.

However, he said it did not include any lotteries or wagering or wagering on horse races held on a circuit in or out of the state. The corresponding draft amendment will be presented in the next session of the legislature from September 13th.
