Melt Cosmetics Slate Gel Liner ($ 19.00 for 0.088 oz.) Is a deep blue with subtle, cool undertones and a matte finish. The texture was very smooth and fluid, moderately dense, but pigmented as it was applied to bare skin with an angled brush or flat brush. This particular shade took noticeably longer to dry out and become matt. Therefore it was best applied in a thinner, more economical layer and then built up if necessary.
I felt it was pigmented enough where this still gave pretty opaque results, but it was harder to use than off-white eyeshadow and easier than an eyeliner – other shades in the range were more versatile. After drying, it stayed in place for over 10 hours without fading / thinning.

Melt Cosmetics Steel Gel Liner ($ 19.00 for 0.088 oz.) Is a medium-dark blue with subtle, cool undertones and light blue and mint green highlights. It had mostly an opaque coverage in a single layer that was applied evenly and smoothly without puffing, though I felt the edge looked a little jagged if I wasn’t careful.
It was almost like the sparkle made the application less smooth compared to the matte version of the formula. The eyeliner lasted well for 10 hours without fading and only had a hint of fallout / migration from a few glitters.
