25-year-old Irina Vasilyeva has been arrested and faces up to eight years in prison if convicted of assaulting her grandmother, a prominent academic.

The victim, Alevtina Bogdanova, is fighting for her life in the hospital after the alleged attack.
The “drunk” model reportedly asked her grandmother for money.
But Alevtina – professor and respiratory specialist in St. Petersburg – had refused.
The model then met her grandmother, who fell over and suffered an eye injury, an internal head wound, and a fracture at the base of the skull.

A police spokesman said: “It was found that the citizen (Irina Vasilyeva), who was drunk during the conflict, struck her grandmother’s head several times with her hands.”
