The tech giant Google has now sent a confirmation in which it has announced that it will shut down the standalone app “Android Auto for Phone Screens” with Android 12.

Instead, anyone who wants a driver-friendly UI for their Android phone should use the Google Assistant driving mode available in Google Maps or the native Android Auto UI available in select cars.

“For those who use them on the phone (Android Auto mobile app), they will be switched to the Google Assistant driving mode,” Google said in a statement.

“Starting with Android 12, the Google Assistant driving mode will be an integrated mobile driving experience. We currently have no further details to share,” said the company, adding that the experience is compatible with anyone using Android Auto , does not change cars.

Google’s confirmation came at a time when users saw a message on the Android Auto for Phone Screens app saying the service was “now only available for car screens” and directed phone users to the Google Assistant driving mode as a replacement .

Meanwhile, a report found that the Android Auto for Phone Screens app now says it is not compatible with Android 12 Pixel devices.
