payload

Lethal Cosmetics Payload Glitch Liquid Eyeshadow ($ 21.00 for 0.24 oz.) Appeared to have a blackened base with fine mother-of-pearl and sparkle that exhibited a multichromatic shift from bluish-purple to purple to peach to blue-green. It had more semi-opaque color coverage – so it was more pigmented than most of the hues in the series – but it was difficult to maintain that coverage and keep it from looking blotchy, streaky, and sometimes raised (this happened very easily if you looked at your fingertips to diffuse).

The consistency was very watery and thin with a longer drying time, which didn’t make it easier to apply. I found the best way to apply it was to put the product on the back of your hand and then pick it up with a separate brush, and I had a stroke to apply – trying to do more always resulted in itself the product looked moving and streaky. It began to visibly fade after six hours of wear.

Formula overview

$ 21.00 / 0.24 oz. – $ 87.50 per ounce

The formula is described as “water-based” with “exceptional wear time and zero fallout” and can be applied to the lid with a “single swipe”. The brand recommended letting the formula “dry completely” before opening your eyes to avoid wrinkles. It’s an incredibly wet and watery formula that made it difficult to use and to have sheer coverage.

Most of the shades were multi-colored top coats rather than full-surface eyeshadows – less of a “wipe”. Applying it evenly was a challenge, as the water-based formula tended to have visible streaks, regardless of whether I used the included applicator (the worst tool), fingertips (only decent if already half dry, but the product always sheared noticeably) and brushes (both fluffy and flat synthetic options).

I got the best results using a flat brush to apply and a clean, fluffy brush to diffuse the edges a bit after drying for a few seconds. It was usually easier to take the supplied applicator, brush the product on the back of my hand, and then use a brush to pick up the product – this way my skin absorbed some of the watery liquid and prevented some of the streaks from being applied to my lids.

While it’s a rather watery formula, the drying time was actually too long – getting the product into my fine lines as it dried out was a very minimal issue. The uneven, sometimes blotchy and sometimes streaky applicator was really the pressing problem. The more pigmented nuances were smoother to apply, while the transparent nuances seemed to clump together in places, resulting in a chunkier finish that could accentuate the lid texture.

It’s a shame they were so difficult to apply because the finish was really stunning; fine, shimmering particles that reflected the light and danced without being clunky or glittering. They were comfortable to wear and, as promised, were transfer resistant and lasted four to six hours before they faded.

Zero day

Lethal Cosmetics Zero Day Glitch Liquid Eyeshadow ($ 21.00 for 0.24 ounces) appeared to have a transparent base with small and medium shimmer and sparkle that featured a multichromatic shift from lavender to peach to gold. The shift wasn’t as noticeable no matter how I twisted, and it was mostly a translucent pink with iridescent sparkles (at least so).

It had semi-transparent pigmentation that applied unevenly regardless of whether I applied it with the included applicator, a separate brush, or my fingertip. I achieved the “best” results by applying the product to the back of my hand, then picking it up with a separate brush and applying it to my lid. I felt like I only had one shot to apply it on and then had to live with those results as trying to diffuse or fade it out resulted in spots and streaks. The formula was very watery and thin which was part of the problem. After five hours of wear, signs of wear were visible.
