Passion

Danessa Myricks Passion Twin Flames multichrome pigment ($ 26.00 for 0.085 oz.) Had a sheer base with lots of pearl and fine sheen that featured a multichromatic shift between medium, warmer pink, peach, chartreuse, and mint green. It was shiny, sparkling, and metallic, and it usually looked better with the reflected light (“in motion”) than it did in a still image.

The texture was light, very fluid, and spreadable, so the near-opaque coverage in one layer resulted in a semi-opaque coverage that was fairly even but had to be sanded out with a fingertip or a fluffy brush to avoid a streaky look. It dried out quickly and stayed on well for 10 hours without fading, peeling, or wrinkling.

You should have “high pigment” in “one stroke” without “wrinkles, no failures and no streaks” in liquid form. The brand says, “apply directly to the applicator,” although I disagree. I preferred to pick up the product from the applicator with a brush or brush the product on the back of my hand and then pick it up with a brush or fingertips.

The application was very streaky to work with the product and too much was often applied. Often times, when applying too much shade it looked particularly uneven – both in terms of coverage and in terms of the physical thickness / texture of the product (it would be more prone to the emphasis on the lid structure). The lighter shades were sometimes sharper, while the blacks were more intense and easier to use as a full-cap paint.

In general, the more white or translucent based shades were better than dye detergent or layered over something else. I wouldn’t call them “high pigment” in most cases.

The consistency was runny, light and a little thin with moderate creaminess. There was enough slippage that excessive application could result in fine lines as it set. So I always made sure to polish and mix the product a bit just before it set (especially along my inner lid area). This was especially noticeable when I tried to use it on my lower lash line, and I had better luck applying it with a pencil brush and fading it out for more even drying.

It melted nicely along the edges, but I would probably use a powder eyeshadow to blend and soften the edges (either before / after or after applying this product). They had quick drying and a slightly tacky but fairly transfer resistant finish. It was a little clingy, but it didn’t feel heavy.

They lasted anywhere from nine to ten hours before wrinkling slightly, but I haven’t had any problems with failures, dandruff, etc. over time.

As a clue, I found that the product has a more distinct odor that doesn’t add any fragrance, but comes from the formula itself, although I didn’t notice it while wearing it.

Young love

Danessa Myricks Young Love Twin Flames Multichrome Pigment ($ 26.00 for 0.085 oz.) Had a transparent base full of multichromatic pearls and subtle sheen that alternated between cooler lavender, warmer lavender, pink, and peach. It had a sparkling, metallic finish with quite a bit of sheen.

It had almost opaque pigmentation in one layer that was applied fairly evenly, but it had to be applied with a fingertip or a separate brush to make the product really even and smooth as the applicator that came with it tended to slide the product around and leaving faint streaks behind. Because it was so sparkling, some of the bumps that were more visible in the close-ups were not noticeable in person.

The texture was smoother, lighter, and spreadable with a quick drying that lasted over 10 hours without fading, peeling, or wrinkling.
