New Delhi: Swiggy has decided to prioritize Genie deliveries over grocery deliveries, taking into account the rising Covid-19 cases, the home delivery startup said Thursday. Under its genius, the company offers a fast pick-up and delivery service.

Swiggy said all customers will receive dedicated customer care for all Genie orders. The facility will be of great help to those recovering in the safety of their homes. Customers can ship medical items, groceries, or homemade meals through the Swiggy Genie service.

Over the past 15 days, Swiggy saw its over-the-counter (OTC) drug shipments increase by 350% compared to the previous month. During the same period, the grocery supplier used its platform to transport meals and tiffins cooked by friends and families. Swiggy currently offers Genie facilities in 65 cities across India.

Vivek Sunder, Swiggy’s Chief Operating Officer, said: “We are overwhelmed with news from consumers expressing that Swiggy Genie has been a lifeline during these troubled times. With multiple cities on lockdown and with family or friends to deal with, Swiggy Genie has delivered necessities such as homemade meals, OTC medication, reviews and groceries to the doorstep of Indians. Given the criticality of the service, we are now prioritizing Genie deliveries. ”

Prior to Swiggy, Zomato also announced its efforts to help the country fight the Covid-19 pandemic. Zomato’s not-for-profit Feeding India has partnered with Delhivery to deliver oxygen concentrators to hospitals across the country.
