The Sydney Grace x Temptalia Collection comes together and is constantly evolving! I just received packaging samples yesterday (we will remove the names from the front of the pallets when they go into mass production; the names appear on the back) and it is so amazing to see the three pictures come together. The biggest concern was how well the three palette images would align in real life, but that turned out just fine I think!
We’ve always imagined triptych artwork where the artwork from each pallet stood on its own, but we wanted there to be something special when you bought all three. I will go through the color names in detail when all of the shades are approved and I can share how all the colors came together 🙂
- Quintessence: An ode to space and the night sky. The artwork reflects the northern lights (Aurora Borealis) along with the Milky Way. The main Canis constellation combines these two elements as an homage to Mellan.
- At the horizon: My attitude towards neutrals; I would call them “new” neutrals; They’re a little dingy, earthy, and muted with a bit of desert inspiration along the way. References to the northern lights flow into the palette’s artwork, revolving around a surreal moon and Mellan’s silhouette. The mountains represent the horizon line where sky and sea meet.
- Radiation reflection: A festival of color based on jewels, rainbows (but adding depth and brilliance) and metals. Reflection can be a literal mirror reflection, but it can also be about looking back, sometimes looking below the surface, and looking beyond the literal reflection. The northern lights shine through the water and illuminate a mirror with its own, more turbulent waterfall. While it’s hard to see in print, Magellan’s silhouette is in the mirror image … which is pretty apt now that his presence is remembered.
Here are some running swatches that I shared! It’s really about sharing my own excitement but also taking readers on the journey. It’s less about teasing or exaggerating anything – I swear! We’re more likely to see a real spring start (late March / April / May), but one of the biggest pieces that will determine the release date is the packaging completion. I’m still working on a lot of paints, but Sydney Grace has started pressing paints that have been finished! 😏
You can find four videos in the following Instagram slideshow:
- A look at MAC Jealousy Wakes (from my MAC collaboration many years ago) compared to Borealis (from Quintessence, approved) and Jealousy’s Descent (from Radiant Reflection, approved).
- first “Quad” of colors in Quintessence: Umbra (almost approved), Orion Nebula (approved), Celestial Bloom (approved), The Mielke Way (approved).
first “Quad” of shades in On the Horizon: Heart-Dog (approved), Earthbound (approved), Flying High (almost approved), Midnight Courage (in progress) - last “quad” of shades in Radiant Reflection: Our Starry Night (in progress), Glossover (in progress), Jealousy (approved), Sublime Reverie (in progress)
Some additional information: There are three eyeshadow palettes, each with 12 shades, available individually or as a bundle (of all three). It’s a spring 2021 release, and as soon as I know more details about the date, I’ll be sure to share it! The collection won’t be limited; As long as they are selling well, the mark will continue to be replenished if it is sold out.
