ColourPop Too Hot Blush Stix ($ 8.00 for 0.33 oz.) Is a medium dark fuchsia pink with strong, cool blue undertones and a dewy finish. It had a semi-transparent, buildable pigmentation that was applied with a fingertip with medium coverage and slightly more transparent with a dab brush.

The cream blush had a moderately emollient, more balsamic texture with a bit of a gel-like glide, which made it look good on bare skin and apply over the foundation without lifting it. The paint was evenly applied and blended pretty well, although I found this particular shade to be a bit smoother and not as effortless as most of the shades in the range. It took a good eight hours before it faded noticeably.

Formula overview

$ 8.00 / 0.33 oz. – $ 24.24 per ounce

The formula is said to “blend easily” with a “natural, skin-like finish” that can be layered or applied to bare skin. The brand recommends applying straight from the tube for greater coverage and using a brush to pick up the product for less coverage, although coverage “easily builds color to your heart’s content”. They dry off to a semi-solid finish – slightly baptismal, definitely “natural, skin-like” in appearance, but not overly sticky or really wet looking. I haven’t found them hike or exercise a lot, so the formula is still more durable at seven to nine hours with minimal exercise. So far, they have also applied and worn well over the foundation. They are not transfer-safe, but transfer-resistant; They don’t smudge if accidentally touched, but they’re not completely locked.

The pigmentation varied a little from shade to shade, but most shades were semi-opaque to fully opaque when applied straight from the tube in a “swipe” motion, although I think mimicking this on the cheeks is not as easy as it is Compared to done my arm. I preferred to pick up the product with my fingertip, pat the apple of my cheek and spread it up and out, then use a clean fingertip to spread and soften the edges as needed. I appreciated the fact that even the deeper shades didn’t seem to “sink” into my pores and could be applied and blended as easily as very light, more my skin-but-better (literally my skin!) Shades. I would describe that the formula can be built up from semi-transparent to medium strength, with a semi-opaque opacity being possible, but the formula has enough slip that it stands out noticeably even with heavier application.

The consistency was slightly emollient, light and thin with good spreadability and agitation; It didn’t lift the base products, but it still worked well on bare skin. I haven’t seen it lift or stain the foundation over time, even when I initially applied the foundation, but I would recommend (as with most cream-based cheek formulas!) Matte foundation for the best results (the dewy one!) Finish plays well with a more skin-like base).

Oh, the caps have the names of the products, but the rest of the tube doesn’t. So if you’ve opened more than one, be sure to put the correct lid back on!
