5 star island

ColourPop 5 Star Island Pressed Powder Quad ($ 12.00 for 0.12 oz.) Is a new limited edition foursome that features a pressed glitter and three eyeshadows. This, along with the rest of the Animal Crossing collaboration, starts on January 28th at 10 a.m. PT on the ColourPop website and on February 14th on Ulta.

I wish the brand had included a Super Shock Shadow instead of a glitter as I think that would have allowed them to achieve a similar appearance, which would have made the palette more versatile and appealed to a wider audience. The quality was decent here, although the other two matte shades were a bit powdery and the shimmer was nice. The glitter was similar to previous glitter, although I think the brand could better describe the formula or indicate which colors are sharper or more opaque.

Isabelle

Isabelle has a translucent base with finer glitter particles that appeared to be dominated by pale, slightly iridescent pink with pastel peach and lavender glitter particles. This shade contained plastic (PET) glitter and warned that it is not intended for the immediate eye area. It had a medium coverage that was well distributed and spread out nicely on my skin. The texture was pliable, slightly sticky, and adhered pretty well to my skin. Took eight hours of easy hike when applied to my cheeks.

Iceland Tune is a lighter, medium pink with moderate, warm undertones and a matte finish. The texture was soft, mixable and slightly powdery in the pan. It had an opaque color payoff that was applied evenly to bare skin and faded out well. This shade wore well for eight hours before visibly fading.

Formula overview

$ 4.50 / 0.05 oz. – – $ 90.00 per ounce

The new Pressed Powder Shadow formula is said to be “highly pigmented” and have an “ultra-velvety and silky” texture that is “long-lasting”. The pressed pigments differ in that they are not intended for immediate use around the eye area.

Most color tones have a semi-opaque to opaque coverage, can be faded out quite well and can sometimes be a little drier / powdery compared to typical matt colors. They often last eight to nine hours on me before they fade, but many hues in the pressed pigment family stain.

NOTE: All products categorized under “pigment” carry a warning in the USA that the product “is not intended for use in the immediate eye area”. Brands in the US typically market these products as “pigments” (instead of “eyeshadow”), and there is often a warning on the back of the box or on the label. The product contains color additives that are not approved for use on the eyes according to the FDA. According to CosIng, some color additives in “pigments” are not subject to any use restrictions in the EU and can be used on the eyes. We recommend checking the ingredients to confirm the current safety rating / restrictions: FDA / CosIng. We hope you can support Temptalia by shopping through our links below. Many Thanks!

Island designer

Island designer is a light, sunny yellow with moderate, warm undertones and a metallic sheen. It had a rich color coverage with a soft, smooth texture that wasn’t too powdery or too tightly pressed into the pan. It stayed good for eight hours before it faded a little.

Formula overview

$ 4.50 / 0.05 oz. – – $ 90.00 per ounce

The new Pressed Powder Shadow formula is said to be “highly pigmented” and have an “ultra-velvety and silky” texture that is “durable” and “easily sticks to the eyes”. Most shades of color have a semi-opaque to opaque pigmentation that applies well to bare skin, fades out easily and lasts seven to eight hours.

The matte eyeshadows tend to be a little more powdery in the pan, though they’re soft and finely ground, while the shimmers have a creamier, denser consistency. Occasionally, the sparkling or metallic shades are better applied with the fingertips or a damp brush.

Resident Rep

Resident Rep is a medium-sized, reddish-plum-colored base with warmer undertones, the golden flecks of which sparkle over a rather matte finish. It had an opaque pigmentation that was evenly applied to bare skin and faded out well, but the glitters had a mind of their own as they did not combine with the base color so these spread too easily and also led to some dropouts. The texture was soft and smooth, but it was a little powdery and had some rainfall during application. It took a decent eight hours with slight breakdowns over time.
